Glendinning Moxham, MA

Architect, Swansea

He was the son of Mr Marcus Moxham of Swansea and was educated at Monkton House School Cardiff and at the Friends Public School, Sidcot, Somerset. He took great interest in technical work and won many prizes and medals. He was Articled to Mr Charles Sutton of Nottingham and was a student of the School of Art and Nottingham University.
On the completion of his Articles he travelled to many of the large towns in England and the Continent studying architecture.
He was made a Member of the Society of Architects and commenced practice in Swansea in 1887.
In 1888 a partnership with Mr James Buckley Wilson was entered into and since that period this firm carried out many important undertakings. The Waterloo Street and Goat Street Arcade was carried out by them and St David’s Church Ystalyfera; the Swansea Eye Hospital, London; Provincial Bank, Neath; Parish Hall and Schools Llanelly; Infant School Ystalyfera; Llanelly Liberal Club and Premises; Metropolitan Bank; Birmingham Bank Llanelly and a number of churches and vicarages besides some of the principal building residences and villas in the surrounding neighbourhood.
The Swansea New Market was one of their works. It was built at a cost of £24,000 and was one of the first of its type in Wales.
