Robert Margrave

Robert Margrave was born at Trosserch House, Llangennech, in 1833, the son of Lofthouse Margrave a partner in Llanelly's Old Glanmor Foundry.

Over the years Robert Margrave held the following offices:

Poor Law Guardian;

Member of the Llanelly Local Board of Health;

Member of the Harbour Commissioners;

President of the Llanelly Branch of the Church Defence Association;

Vicar’s Warden for St Peter’s Church (served 6 years);

People’s Warden at All Saints’ Church (served 12 years, the last ten consecutively;

Chairman of the Llanelly Conservative Club, for several years and was Chairman of Committees from 1882;

Chairman of the Conservative Association.

His offices were in Bridge Street where his telephone number was 341.

His home was at 39 Thomas Street, Llanelly.
