KK Club (Hope and Anchor),
Victoria Road North Dock

KK Club, Victoria Road, North Dock
Located opposite North Dock, the KK Club was originally known as The Hope and Anchor and as such was a tavern popular with both the resident and visiting mariners.
In the days when Seaside was a thriving, bustling dockland, The Hope and Anchor would have been a welcome sight as ships sailed into the safety of the harbour.
The Three Mariners was not listed in Holden’s Trade Directory of 1811 but a map of the area shows The Ship, Public House, and Mr Robert’s New Houses.
The Tavern was listed in the Voters’ List of 1834 when John Rhydderch was entitled to vote by virtue of his house (3 Mariners) Llanelly Flats and Pigot’s Directory of 1835 lists John Rhydderch as the resident proprietor.
By the time Pigots’ Trade Directory was published in 1844 Thomas Llewellyn of Seaside was the proprietor. In 1872 the Hope and Anchor was the only tavern in Victoria Road and the landlord was Mr D Evans.
