The Stag, Five Roads

The Stag Pumheol, Five Roads, in 2002

During the Rebecca Riots the 'daughters of Rebecca’ met in secret to plan their attacks on local tollgates. The Stag at Pumheol, five miles west of Llanelli, where the five roads from Mynydd Sylen, Pembrey, Llanelli, Pontiets (Pontyates) and Ponthenri met, was an ideal location for such meetings especially in August 1843 when it became the central point for organising local uprisings.
