Whitstable Inn, New Dock Road

Whitstable Inn, New Dock Road, 1991

The enlarged Whitstable in the 20th century
In 1872 this public house, one of four Inns in New Dock Road, close to New Dock, would have been frequented by workers from nearby industries, along with seamen and local residents.
Mr William Whittington was the proprietor of the Whitstable Inn at this time and if you were a preferred customer, you would have been invited to have a drink at ‘Whitt’s Table’ which gave rise to the pub’s name ‘The Whitstable’.
