Freemasonry & Friendly Societies
Most of the local businessmen and industrialists belonged to a Freemasonary Lodge or Friendly Society and a newspaper report of 24 January 1878 gives an insight to the membership.
Henry Child Buckley Esq., MD, was installed as Worshipful Master of Prince of Wales Lodge No 671.
