Gerald Grant's Tales of Seaside
Nevill Street
The row of houses close to the Copperworks School has not always been known as Nevill Street, originally it was known as Catherine Terrace.
This was probably in memory of Catherine Caroline Nevill (the wife of Charles Nevill (junior), who died in 1845, long before the houses were built.
Like many other local properties, the houses in Catherine Terrace formed part of the Stepney Estate. The following indicates that the property was built around 1890, about 12 years before Field House, the former home of the Nevill family, was demolished in 1902.
